Call 000Before anything else
Put on sturdy shoes and thick rubber or leather gloves before going near broken glass.
What to do, in order
- If it broke in a storm, stay away from windows until the storm passes.
- Keep clear of the glass unless you're wearing sturdy boots and rubber or leather gloves.
- Photograph the damage and call your insurer.
- Renting? Tell your rental provider or agent straight away on their emergency number and confirm in writing - damage that leaves the home unsafe or insecure is a legally urgent repair.
When you need a glazier
Book a glazier to make the opening safe and replace the glass, especially if the home can't be secured or rain can get in.
Once everyone is safe, find a glazier who can come today.
